Description
21mm low e tempered insulated glass is a combination of one sheet of 6mm low e tempered glass and one sheet of 6mm clear tempered glass with a layer of 9mm gas namely argon or dry air in between them. The two pieces of glass are further separated by an aluminium spacer bar which has holes in it; a desiccant which might be silica gel or zeolite is used below the spacer bar material so as to absorb any moisture that may be initially present in between the glass panes. A primary sealant is used on the inside to fix the spacer bar to the inside of the glass panes while a secondary silicone sealant is used on the outside.



Composition
Glass: the glass in double glazing can be a range of thicknesses or type. tempered or laminated glass may be used in areas where safety or strength is a priority. Double glazing can also contain up to three panes of glass where extra heat or sound insulation is required. Thicker glass is more expensive but more efficient.
Spacer: double galzing utilize a spacer that separates the two glass panes where they meet at the edges. These spacers usually have some sort of desiccant to absorb moisture between the panes and prevent fogging.
Gas: in general, an gas such as dry air or inert gas of argon creates the insulating barrier between the indoors and outdoors.
